.NET Developer Resume and Interview Guide: Skills to Show
A strong .NET developer resume shows the languages and frameworks you have shipped with, the data and cloud services you work with, and what your work achieved.
Skills hiring teams look for
List the ones you have genuinely used, and put the most relevant to the job first.
- C#
- .NET / .NET Core
- ASP.NET Web API and MVC
- Entity Framework and LINQ
- SQL Server and T-SQL
- Azure services (App Service, Functions, Service Bus)
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
- Unit testing (xUnit, NUnit, Moq)
- Docker and microservices
- REST API design and authentication (OAuth2, JWT)
How to write your experience
- State your .NET version range if it is relevant, for example .NET Framework 4.8 and modern .NET.
- Describe APIs by what they did: traffic served, systems integrated, latency improved.
- Show data work too: stored procedures, indexing, query tuning, migrations.
- Mention testing and delivery: automated tests, pipelines, release frequency.
Interview topics to prepare
- Dependency injection and the service lifetimes in .NET
- async/await and common pitfalls
- Entity Framework tracking, lazy loading and performance
- Designing a REST API and handling versioning and errors
- SQL indexing and reading an execution plan
- Authentication with JWT and OAuth2
Tailor it to each posting
Read the job description, find the required skills, and make sure each one you genuinely have is easy to find in your summary, skills and recent bullets. Do not add skills you have not used. See the guide: how to tailor your resume to a job description, and the ATS resume checklist.
Put this into practice.
JobSahara matches you to jobs, tailors your resume and cover letter to each posting using only what is in your resume, and helps you reply to recruiters.
