Sales Representative Resume and Interview Guide
Sales resumes are strongest when they show real numbers against targets and how you worked with customers.
Skills hiring teams look for
List the ones you have genuinely used, and put the most relevant to the job first.
- Prospecting and lead qualification
- Discovery and consultative selling
- Negotiation and closing
- CRM tools
- Pipeline management and forecasting
- Account management
- Presenting and demonstrating
- Working with marketing and customer success
- Territory or account planning
- Resilience and follow-up
How to write your experience
- Include quota and results you can verify, such as percent of target reached.
- Describe your deal types and typical size, if you can share them.
- Show the full cycle: prospecting, closing and keeping the customer.
- Do not exaggerate numbers. Employers can check.
Interview topics to prepare
- Your sales process from first contact to close
- How you handle an objection
- A deal you lost and what you learned
- How you build and manage a pipeline
- How you plan your territory or accounts
- Working with other teams after a deal closes
Tailor it to each posting
Read the job description, find the required skills, and make sure each one you genuinely have is easy to find in your summary, skills and recent bullets. Do not add skills you have not used. See the guide: how to tailor your resume to a job description, and the ATS resume checklist.
Put this into practice.
JobSahara matches you to jobs, tailors your resume and cover letter to each posting using only what is in your resume, and helps you reply to recruiters.
